The City of San Diego, through its Utilities Undergrounding Program, is currently relocating approximately 30-35 miles of overhead utility lines underground throughout the city each year.
In the City approximately $54 million per year is spent to convert unsightly overhead power and communication lines with safer and more reliable underground systems.

Fire in the sky! Fortunately our lines are underground...of course, when a hurricane blows the lines down two blocks away, we're out of power also.
But it does look better.
Breathtaking photo... Even a knot of utility wires looks beautiful with that backdrop.
Good shot. I wish they would do that in Sydney. Some beautiful views and buildings are spoilt by those very unsightly power lines.
