Located on San Diego Bay, NASSCO is the largest new construction shipyard on the West Coast and a big employer in San Diego. NASSCO has been building large ships for commercial customers and the U.S. Navy since 1960.
Over the last four decades, NASSCO has delivered over 110 ships to the world's fleets -- 58 ships to commercial customers, becoming America's leading commercial shipbuilder during this period; and 56 auxiliary and support ships for the U.S. Navy.

Very informative. I did not know that there was still much ship manufacturing in the U.S., and one usually thinks of the Gulf Coast as the location of ship building, not California.

When Cezar and I visited NYC (2007) we looked for the "Intrepid" ( aircraft carrier )but unfortunately it was out in a shipyard somewhere!Cezar became very disapointed...

That is an impressive array of ships and a lot of people who live in your area must work there. I hope it doesn't suffer the same fate as the rest of the country during this Depression.
