Knock Off

Beauty, they say, is in the eye of the beholder. Couldn't they have found something more pleasing to the eye to put right out in front of the Museum of Contemporaty Art? Speaking of eyes, what in the heck is sticking out of his??

This bronzed scupture, entitled Process Art (Dead Men Don't Make Scuptures)by LA based artist, Nathan Mabry is a joint purchase by Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and the Hammer Museum, University of California, Los Angeles. It will be on display through May.

In this sculpture, Mabry purchased an unauthorized cast of Rodin’s sculpture, The Thinker, through the Internet, removed its patina, and then repatinated it and overlaid the sculpture with a bronze cast of an altered latex mask. I've been to The Rodin Museum in Paris and have seen The Thinker and prefer it.

Yikes - I have to agree with you - something more pleasing to the eye is needed there!

Art is in the eye of the beholder?

I've been to the Rodin Museum, too, and would agree there is nothing like the original!

Hmmm... he's not so attractive from the front. But he does have a nice rump!

I don't think I'd want to see anything like it for very long either. And I'm a science fiction fan!

Not really my cup of tea. I too have been to the Musée Rodin, had lunch there in the beatiful garden.
I have a lot of problems with modern art, especially installations and video.

If this guy is in my dreams tonight,
it will be your fault....I love the wedding shots, very different views makes them even more special.

I guess if you deserve a price for the best commentary..It would have to be...Mononeil!!!
I can't stop smiling!!
The posture of this guy is the same as The 'Penseur"(Thinker) de Rodin but the face of course is more Up to date!!!
