Mr. Pelican


Unique among the world's seven species of pelicans, the Brown Pelican is found along the ocean shores and not on inland lakes. It is the only dark pelican, and also the only one that plunges from the air into the water to catch its food.

What a fabulous photograph of a fabulous bird. I remember loving pelicans when i lived in Queensland. This one is a beauty.

I remember how stunning these birds looked in groups (flocks?) of 5 or 6 riding the air currents along (and barely a few yards above) the shores. Kind of prehistorically majestic.
